Alchemic Plant Essences

Plant essences are very potent, yet subtle and deeply penetrating to the mind and body.  This medicine is a separation into a plant’s 3 philosophical elements:

 - Soul (essential oils of herb)
 - Spirit (alcohol made from fermented herb)
 - Body (extracted mineral salts from incinerated herb).

These elements are later reunited, exalted, and potentized.

Astrology is used to make sure the herb’s ruling planet is favorably placed during processing.

Essences are intended to concentrate all the medicinal properties of an herb, and are particularly useful for the mind and spirit because of the high essential oil content and astrological energies.

Just a few drops of an essence will yield a full therapeutic dose.

This is a concentrated plant medicine; a premier spagyric alchemical product. This medicine is created by a 3-fold process. It involves separation of the 3 spagyric essentials of a plant, which are its sulfur (volatile oils), mercury (alcohol), and salt (mineral salts bound to plant cellulose).
After harvesting a given herb during appropriate astrological timing, one must first steam distill off the volatile oils, or sulfur. This represents a plant's Soul, or Personality, and is the firey element of a plant.
Next, the remaining plant body is subjected to fermentation, so as to create an alcohol perferctly matched as a carrier for our final product. The alcohol, or mercury, is representative of Universal Sprit because it amalgamates, blends, and preserves all the medicinal properties of our herb. Volatile oils, water-soluble components, alcohol-soluble components, and mineral salts are all soluble in alcohol.
Once our herb has completed fermentation, all the alcohol is distilled off. This is repeated 6 more times for a total of 7 distillations, and what we have left is a 190 proof pure alcohol created from our herb. The soupy mush of the plant left over from the fermentation is what we derive our final product, the mineral salts, from for this medicine.
The salt of our herb is representative of material wisdom that has been aquired through the course of a plant's life, and it's whole ancestral line.  They play an important part in how a plant medicine works, as salts are how many compounds will diffuse across cell walls.  Also, they are necessary for the essential oils to preserve in the alcohol.  Spiritually speaking, there must be a body(salt) for the soul(essential oil) to incarnate into.
The mineral salts are bound to plant cellulose, and are left out of virtually ALL commercial tincture products, as the plant body is generally thrown away after alcohol, water, or CO2 extraction. So, what we do next is fairly simple.
We take the mush from fermentation, and burn it to a fine ash over the course of multiple hours to days. It will go from black, to grey, to a fine white chalk substance. We call this process calcination. Once we have our ash, and have ground it in a mortar, we extract the water-soluble salts by leaching them off with distilled water from the ash, and then evaporating the water to leave our water-soluble salts.
Our salts are now added back to our mercury (alcohol), and finally we reintroduce our sulfur (volatile oils).  Now we circulate the 3 united elements for several days or weeks to smooth and even out the essence.  We have now completed our medicine. This is all done in glassware, AND under the most appropriate astrological weather to preserve the purity of our medicine physically, and energetically. In the process we have extracted all the most precious and vital parts of a plant, purified and concentrated them, and then recombined them into an extremely powerful plant medicine.
Spagyric Tinctures

Spagyrics comes frome the Greek "spa" meaning "to draw out" and "gyros" meaning "to join, or "bind together".  Spagyrics refers to an alchemical method of plant extraction which treats the plant as having a life force.  This method of extraction protects and magnifies this life force.

                    --Purification of wine spirits--

I distill all my spirits for these tinctures from organic wine. Although more expensive than other alcohols, grape spirits are regarded as the absolute best for medicine, and produce a very light and smooth finish. My spirits are distilled a total of 7 times with special expansion chambers to create an ultra pure and energetically receptive menstruum for the herbs.
Next, I create the tincture either through very low heat digestion, or a special reflux extractor (for water-soluble compounds, in particular). Often, a second batch of herbs is added to this extract, and let sit in a cool, dark place for upwards of a month.  Then, I remove the finished herb body, and incinerate it in order to extract the plant’s mineral salts.  Lastly, the salts are added back to our tincture, and we have a finished product.
Dosage is generally one to two droppersfull every few hours as needed during illness, or once or twice a day as a preventative or health aid.

       Medicinal Balms

My medicinal balms are solar shea butter infusions that are combined with essential oils, and local beeswax.  My anagesic massage balm is great for sore, bruised, and inflammed muscles and connective tissue.  Arnica, and  Notoginseng are used as the infusion herbs, both remarkable healers for all types of trauma.  Then I add in oils of Helicrysum, Peppermint, Chamomile, Eucalyptus, and Frankencense.  This stuff goes deep!
